The Black Ethnic

The Black ethnic group has contributed important elements to Panamanian culture, especially through its traditions. These expressions are not only a form of entertainment, but also a way to preserve the history, customs, and identity of a community that has had a strong influence on our country. Celebrating it is a way to recognize its value—a heritage that connects us and teaches us.

The students, had the opportunity to represent this cultural richness on Friday, May 30th. The school organized an event to commemorate Black Ethnicity Month. Each class presented a different dance, showcasing genres such as Congo, Calypso, Bullerengue, and many more. Accompanied by traditional costumes and hairstyles, the preparation of each group reflected dedication, effort, and how everyone came together to celebrate one shared culture.

The event focused not only on the performances but also on community and cultural exchange. After the presentations, each group shared traditional food to wrap up the celebration. It was an opportunity to try new dishes and learn more about Afro-descendant cuisine. Sharing these moments is also part of the celebration, and it is essential to keep traditions like dance and food alive.
